2021
Conference and Doctoral Colloquium
The theme: "Green Swans-based Management Accounting System
towards Future-Fit Society."
Conference Date:

November
2021 |
The Asia-Pacific Management
Accounting Association (APMAA) will hold its 2021 Annual Conference (APMAA
2021) from 9th (Tuesday)
- 11th (Thursday) November 2021. We
hold the conference entirely online. Zoom
platforms will be provided by Universitas Trisakti and
Udayana University,
Indonesia,
As you know, the
COVID-19 forced us to suspend the APMAA 2020 in Malaysia. In the current
situation of limited (or canceled) travels, we cannot hold an ordinary in-person
conference. Thus, we decided to conduct all parallel sessions of the
conference and the doctoral colloquium exclusively online.
The
Asia-Pacific Management Accounting Association, founded in 2004, is a
"members-first" organization. Our annual conferences and the Doctoral
Colloquium are the platform that brings us together (APMAA Annual
Conference Policy and Mission). Parallel sessions have always been the
center of the APMAA. We have continuously developed conference programs
and schedules that were "of the members," "by the members," and "for the
members.
Our goal? That
is, our members
will
grow professionally and interact with colleagues in meaningful ways. Our
reviewers are not just scrutinizers, as in the case of traditional
established conferences, but rather, we are also facilitators. We
encourage prospective authors to contribute to and help shape the 2021
conference program through their research abstracts and papers.
The conference's theme
this year
is
"Green Swans-based Management Accounting System towards Future-Fit
Society." Today, even leading scholars admit that capitalism is
broken. Green Swans is a manifesto for system change designed to serve
people, the planet, and prosperity. The proposed Future-Fit Business
benchmark may have the potential to revolutionize the way we understand
and report corporate progress toward a sustainable society by shifting
our focus from today's best practice to required practice to be
future-fit.
As in every other year, we
provide tracks that encompass a wide variety of areas and accept
manuscripts of a very broad range of management accounting subjects. We
hope you will submit your work and join us at the APMAA 2021. We very
much welcome high-quality
manuscripts describing constructive, empirical, experimental, or
theoretical work.
The APMAA 2021 is
co-organized by
the APMAA Head Office
and two local conference
organizing teams in Indonesia. In Indonesia, Professor Dr. Sekar Mayangsari (Trisakti
University) leads the team for the APMAA 2021 Conference section as the Chair. Professor
Dr. Ni Putu Sri Harta Mimba (Udayana University) organizes the APMAA
2021 Doctoral Colloquium section. The APMAA Head Office leads the
two Indonesian teams and organize the APMAA 2021.
There is no doubt that the
2021 conference will be one of the most impressive meetings in APMAA's
history. We are looking forward to seeing you on the web
during the APMAA 2021 period in November.
Best regards

Call for Conference Parallel Session Papers
Parallel sessions have always been the center of the APMAA
conferences and Doctoral Colloquiums (to
APMAA Conference Organizers (sakura.ne.jp)).
The
APMAA 2021 Annual Conference's theme is "Green Swans-based Management
Accounting System towards Future-Fit Society." Green Swans is a
manifesto for system change designed to serve people, the planet, and
prosperity. If Nassim Nicholas Taleb's "Black Swans" are problems that
take us exponentially toward breakdown, then "Green Swans" are solutions
that take us exponentially toward a breakthrough
(‘Green
swans’ and the ‘exponential decade’: A conversation with John Elkington
| Greenbiz). The
Future-Fit Business benchmark, that charts a path to success in an
ever-more volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world, is proposed
as the next step in assessing truly sustainable business performance. (Future-Fit
Business - Transforming Business to Thrive in the21st century).
The benchmark may have the potential to evolve the management accounting
discipline and practices further towards a sustainable society.
As in every other year, we
provide tracks that encompass a wide variety of areas and accept
manuscripts of almost any (management) accounting subjects. Your manuscripts can be theoretical or practice-oriented. We very much
welcome high-quality manuscripts describing constructive, empirical,
experimental, or theoretical work.

Guideline for Authors
1. All
submitted manuscripts should report original, unpublished research
results.
2. The
official language of APMAA 2021 is English in both writing and
presentation. If English is not your mother
tongue (first language), check your draft using a professional
editor and/or with a spelling and grammar matching application such as
Grammarly before submitting your manuscript. (Actually, do the
same even if English is your mother language!) You can download a free
version on a webpage and install it on your PC.
If your document is hard to read, we will decline before sending it to
our reviewer (Desk Reject).
3. Manuscripts
should follow the structure of a traditional research paper, i.e., you
will need to adjust your document to the academic format. An empirical
research paper's typical organization is as follows; Title, Abstract,
Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion,
Conclusion, and References (APMAA Conference proceedings
paper (camera-ready paper) format:
proceedings papers (sakura.ne.jp)).
4. Manuscripts
should be written in Times New Roman font with font size 12, page size
A4, single-spaced with an abstract of 200-300 words, and five
keywords. The abstract should be on a separate page immediately
preceding the text.
5. Manuscripts
should be as concise as the subject and research method permits. The
length of the text should be over 5,000 but usually not exceed 10,000
words.
6. To
promote anonymous review, authors should not identify themselves
directly or indirectly in their writing.
7. Single
authors should not use the pronoun "we." Referencing should follow the
APA style
(http://www.apastyle.org).
8. The
cover page should contain the title of the paper (all bold capitals),
the author's name (first name, initial(s), and family name), title and
affiliation, email address, and phone numbers.
9. Please
indicate the corresponding author. At least one of the authors must
register (pay the participation fee) for the Conference before September
15, 2021, to attend and present their papers.
10. Each
author who registers for the conference is limited to two (2) full paper
submissions (including co-author papers) for the parallel sessions.
11.
Authors who received
a "Minor Revision" or "Major Revision" notification are expected to
resubmit their revised (final) manuscripts before a specified date (the
temporal deadline is August 20) to get an "Accept" notification
by September 1. Our review team engages in review on a
first-come-first-served basis.

APMAA 2021 Doctoral Colloquium Call for Papers
The 2021 Doctoral
Colloquium will be held in conjunction with the APMAA 2021 Conference.
The APMAA Doctoral Colloquium's main objective is to offer doctoral
students an opportunity to receive high-quality feedback from external
reviewers and directly interact with peers, exchange ideas, discuss
concepts, and establish (in) formal cooperation with various research
groups. Doctoral students and candidates at all stages are welcome to
submit a thesis-position paper, but preference will be given to students
in the earlier stages of their doctoral work. Participants will be
expected to provide short and informal presentations of their work
during the Colloquium, followed by a panel-like discussion. The
discussants (advisers) comprise a group of international professors.
Doctoral students interested in participating in the Doctoral Colloquium
should submit a single PDF file consisting of:
1. An introductory letter in which you indicate what you wish to obtain
from the Doctoral Colloquium and what you will be bringing to the
Doctoral Colloquium.
2. A one-page research statement in the research field you will pursue.
If you are at the doctoral dissertation stage, this statement should
focus on the dissertation.
